Layups from Saratoga Race Course
A 90-minute van ride south of Saratoga, Green Meadow Farm is one of the closest full-care layup and rehab farms to the Saratoga meet. NYRA owners and trainers send horses to us between starts, between meets, and for post-race recovery.

We're in Pine Plains, NY — straight down the Taconic Parkway from Saratoga Springs, exit at NY-199 east. Most shipments arrive next-day from the Oklahoma backside. We coordinate directly with Sallee, Brook Ledge, Bob Hubbard, and the smaller regional carriers most Saratoga barns already have on file.
Saratoga horses typically come in for 30 to 120-day layups: dedicated rehab paddocks, twice-daily stall checks, cold saltwater spa, equine pool, and weekly written progress reports with photos. Common patterns we see — a runner in for a soft-tissue niggle mid-meet, a filly down after the Alabama, a stakes horse that needs to reset before shipping to Keeneland.
For Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga sales (New York-Bred yearlings in August, the Selected Yearlings sale), our sales prep program ships directly into the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion. We start prep 90 to 120 days out.

- How fast can a horse ship from the Saratoga backside?
- Most horses arrive next-day. If we have the Coggins, health certificate, and van confirmation in hand by early afternoon, pickup is usually the following morning.
- Can you take a horse mid-meet and send it back?
- Yes. Short freshening stays of 30–45 days are common in July and August, and we ship back into the Oklahoma backside on the trainer's schedule.
- Do you handle Fasig-Tipton sales prep?
- We do — beginning 90 to 120 days out, shipping directly into the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion.
