Layups from Aqueduct Racetrack
A two-hour ship from Aqueduct, Green Meadow Farm provides NYRA owners and trainers with quiet, full-care layups and rehab in Dutchess County. Winter campaigns are hard on horses — we take them down properly.
Aqueduct's inner-track winter meet runs claimers and allowance horses hard. We take them in for everything from 30-day freshening between starts to full 90-day layups after the meet closes in April. Each horse gets individual rehab-paddock turnout, daily hand-walking as prescribed, and a program built with the primary vet.
Cold saltwater spa and equine pool on the property for post-race leg maintenance and soft-tissue work. Direct van service in and out of Aqueduct — most commonly Sallee and Brook Ledge — with pickup coordinated the day before shipping.
For claiming-barn economics, a real farm layup often pays for itself against three weeks of racetrack day-rate plus vet bills. We're happy to talk it through case by case.
